Tasmania State Section-Dinner Meeting
Wednesday 11 May 2011
Northern Club, 61 Cameron St.
GUEST SPEAKER – Dr June Hazzlewood OAM
“The Education Continuum – Education into the Third Age”
“My post retirement return to formal study has been a most interesting journey and continues to provide opportunities to make productive contributions in later life.”
“June's main focus is the promotion of health and well being by facilitating the uptake of information and communication technology aimed at helping to alleviate social isolation caused by geography or lifespan circumstances. As older people become informal carers for partners or other family members, there is a risk of loneliness and depression as people's work life and social networks shrink. The identification of the gaps between the needs of carers and available actual and virtual services is a current research topic.” (quotes from ROAR profiles)
