Innovation and Learning") and has a branch operating in Hobart.
Meetings with a speaker are held monthly including public lectures in
Launceston – The Honora Deane Memorial Lecture (annual) and in
Hobart – The William Oats Memorial Lecture (occasional).
Recent major projects
World Education Forum Tasmania has initiated two major
projects:
Memorial: The Silence of Extinction
(Link opens

The Memorial project has been designed to heighten individual and
community awareness of the annual global extinction rate. It is a
worldwide collaborative project that will involve many people in
creating an artwork. The artwork will provide a physical and visual
reminder of the estimated 27,000 species of plants and animals lost
forever through extinction each year.
You are invited to participate by cutting out a shape from a 5cm x 5cm
piece of paper to commemorate the loss of a species and sending it to
us. Your contribution will be placed in a pocket of the artwork.

A Curriculum Centred approach to achievable solutions
- To help teachers by providing a course of study
- To provide a simple explanation of the science
- To inspire children and schools to take action
- To make our presence on planet Earth sustainable
- To
share what others are doing
- To raise issues of concern in the interests of
public education. We are not a political group and will avoid
supporting party political stances although at times it may appear
that we agree or disagree with action or inaction being taken by
political parties.
Our motivation is spirited by a belief that we
need to encourage a balance between an education which nourishes the
personal worth and growth of individuals and one which stresses the
social responsibility of each to work critically and constructively
towards improving the human physical world environment (World Education
Fellowship Australian Forum 2002).
